No sorry don't know much about this group but have plans to go to Amerfoort in the near future so maybe I will then find out more.

Ah ok thank you! All I know is there are 12; two non-subs and 10 PTV. Would be great if when you do visit you could find out names, genders, ages and if possible who the two hybrids are! Thank you

But where is Koko, a 20-years old male chimpanzee from Skopje zoo, Macedonia, brought in there in 2009? Or he was renamed. He was suffering from severe depression.
Several possibilities :
- as you say, maybe he is re-named and is among the animals I've listed.
- maybe he is housed in the Quarantaine, which can't be seen and for which I don't have names.
-maybe he is already send to the large sanctuary in Spain, also owned by Stichting AAP and where large socialized groups of several species are living.
Was today at Safaripark Beekse Bergen I've tried to count the Chimps in the 3 visiable groups and came to 8 - 6 and 1. Also asked later a volantaire and she know for sure that the group in which I counted 6 animals contains 8 animals and the single animal I saw belongs to an all-male group of 5 animals whcich would make at least 21 Chimps living at Beekse Bergen. There is even a 4th group of very old animals which can hardly be seen by the public and the number of animals of this group is complete unknown to me - but I will try to find out.
The group in which I counted 8 animals is also maybe even bigger but the animals can hide at several places which make counting not easy but I'll do my best to find out somehow the exact number kept.

Asked on a Dutch forum about the Chimps at Beekse Bergen and got an answer :
Group left near the entrance : 9 animals
Group right - male group : 4 animals
Group next to the Gorillas : 11 animals
Group behind the Gorillas ( hardly visiable - old ones ) : 7 animals
This makes 31 animals and Beekse Bergen the largest holder of this species in the Netherlands.

Other Chimp-news, this time from Dierenpark Amerfoort : Sjors - a female - had her 50th birthday today .

The new Chimp-enclosure at Dierenrijk is almost finished and will open June 15. 7 Chimps will find a new home here.
This more or less means the "older" chimp group at SBB will transfer out to Dierenrijk Europa. Seems a clogged on move to me.
Still: I would love to know which individual animals are in which chimp grouping at SBB.
Completely agree on the wish to find out about the individual chimps of Beekse Bergen!
In other news, the chimps arrived today at Dierenrijk. This means that there are now 5 zoos in the Netherlands with chimpanzees; Beekse Bergen have 24, Burgers have 16, Amersfoort 12, Artis 9 and Dierenrijk 7. Can't wait to find out more about them!
Does anyone have the dates of birth for the Artis chimps?
Visited today Dierenrijk - Nuenen and had a look at their new Chimp-house, the outdoor enclosure and the animals. I could discover 6 animals and the enclosre and house look quit Beekse Bergen-ish, not strange because the animals came from there and Dierenrijk and Beekse Bergen are owned by the same company. I've up-loaded a number of photos of the animals, the enclosure and the house in the Dierenrijk-Gallery.

At Safaripark Beekse Bergen the first 2 Western lowland gorilla's of the new to form breeding-group are on display in the indoor enclosure:

female Tuena - 7 years old from Rotterdam Zoo

Both Chimp Haven ('more than 200') and Save the Chimps (253) have many more chimps than Monkey World. A new sanctuary 'Project Chimps' is opening to take retired lab chimps, the chimps will be arriving 10 at a time up to a total of 220.

Yes, they are and in a different part to the front gorilla / chimp building.
SBB has both the space and exhibits to be able to house multiple groups.
