i assume they will be going where the amurs are when they finally leave
The Golden Cat in big cat row that is always in the barrel is Kan who is the newest and youngest of the cats.
They got a new male stripped skunk this on Wednday (26/9) called felix and he has been mixed with flower the female already. The other female that they had died earlier this year. Felix is 5 months old and came from Tierpark Berlin
They had sourced a young female Clouded leopard however it had a virus that would have been dangerous for the other animals in the collection so they are sourcing another one......I am REALLY excited about the clouded leopards coming... it will be a great addition to the zoo...and one i have personally been desperate to see for many years... so i can see many hrs of me camping out infront of their enclosure for photos already...lol.
The Margays are going into the Bintrong enclosure. They have been slowly introduced while being off show and there has been mating seen so there is a chance the female is already pregnant.
Interesting; Now this is interesting, as we already knew the other female had died earlier this year - but this suggests that the old male recently died too, as he was mixed with Flower when she arrived in the spring. Either that, or they now have 2.1 skunks.
I think it was the old male that died.. sorry got them mixed up... there is definately only 2 there now... the new male felix and flower...and they are meant to be out much more during the day
Finally got a few seconds to write a post about the meeting last night so i will attempt to recap...
The Golden Cat in big cat row that is always in the barrel is Kan who is the newest and youngest of the cats.
Rica the Jaguar introductions to Moegli through the mesh is going really well...and they calling to each other which is a good sign. She is only 2 years old and when she matures they will physically be put together.
Jayendra the young lion from bristol is 22months old. He is getting on well with Kamlesh and tho he is not mature and she is an old female they still feel that there is a chance they could mate but it will just depend on him maturing.
The 11 meerkats have dug a huge network of tunnels and the keepers are spending their days filling in only for them to reopen them again...lol

The african hunting dogs now consist of three males and two females. Blade is the top male, he can be recognized by the shoulder blade pattern over his shoulders. Tango is the second male...and he is called that cause he is the most ginger colour. Two socks is the third male and the most submissive one and he looks like he has two socks on his front feet. The two females are called Flash and Jet... Flash has a white flash between her shoulders and Jet is the one with the most black in it.
They are now all integrated into a pack. Tho Blade, Flash and Jet feed first... and then Tango and TwoSocks. There are a few cuts over them especially the males as they are sorting out the hierarchic but over the past week things have really settled down now and there has been a few mating attempts from Blade and Flash (Flash is the top female dog).
Sofas the sealion left this week for Poland... they successfully crate trained him and he arrived safely... his new enclosure looks really good and he has one female there atleast. There is also two pools... and outdoor one and and heated indoor one.
Pandas...both seem to be settling in much better now. Tho at the moment they are being kept in during the weekdays because of the building work on the penguin enclosure. They have been playing classical music to them to calm them as well...lol They will still be sending the urine sample to ChesterZoo.
They have realised that not only the female comes into season but the male does as well. Last year they feel that the female came into season and then the male after she had been in season and therefore missing each other really.
Tigers are now in with each other. The female however doesnt seem to be showing visible signs of being in season that the keepers can see. So they are monitoring them closely and they might be attempting to take urine sample in the future to monitor it.
They had sourced a young female Clouded leopard however it had a virus that would have been dangerous for the other animals in the collection so they are sourcing another one.
They will either be going into the Amur leopard enclosure or the Wolverine enclosure. The wolverine's will be going to the HWP soon. Both Amur leopards thought to be leaving the collection. They are an incompatible pair. By the time their is an enclosure ready at the HWP it will be another pair as they ones at Edinburgh Zoo will have been moved on by that time and replaced by clouded leopards. So the wolverines are moving to the HWP first before Amur leopards are in the HWP.
The Margays are going into the Bintrong enclosure. They have been slowly introduced while being off show and there has been mating seen so there is a chance the female is already pregnant.
I hope thats most of what was said... I am REALLY excited about the clouded leopards coming... it will be a great addition to the zoo...and one i have personally been desperate to see for many years... so i can see many hrs of me camping out infront of their enclosure for photos already...lol.
