If you want to see him outside, try around 3/4pm. Tian Tian doesn't seem to go outside much these days though. I do hope they dont return as early as October but even the Zoo are unsure of when they are leaving but I am told that Alison (and maybe another keeper) will be going with the pandas to China for at least 3 months to help them settle in.

Thank you for this information re. the pandas and their routine. I have a trip scheduled for May (my first time to Edinburgh), the main aim is to see Yang Guang and Tian Tian before their departure. I have other places on my itinerary during the trip so unfortunately will only get one full day at Edinburgh - I just hope I'm lucky!

No problem,

Often the discovery rangers do talks at the panda enclosure, they are typically either 12 or 3pm they seem to be doing it daily now too which is good. They are worth going to and at the end they always allow people to ask questions.

Yang Guang also seems to like the sound of the Rangers voice, when she has done her talk around 2.15/2.30pm he often seems to come outside to listen. I have found this, the best time to see him outside.

Thank you, that’s a great help - it seems the ranger talks may be my best shot of a (hopefully) guaranteed sighting.
 
I visited Edinburgh Zoo today, a few things to note from my visit:
- I saw a good number of species this time around, including most of the animals I didn't get to see last time. The only no-shows to speak of were the giant anteaters (which I expected anyway), the crowned lemurs and the porcupines.
- Unfortunately I didn't manage to get any photos of Tian Tian or Yang Guang, both because there were a lot of people crowded around the windows, and the glass had a lot of reflective glare on it but I did manage to see them both.
- It was so good to get into Wee Beasties again, and while it's a shame the chameleon and tenrecs are gone, there were still a nice range of species in there. The Taiwan beauty snake in particular has a lovely enclosure with a mist dispenser.

This sort of time is a good time to visit as its still 'off peak' the trick is with Tian Tian and Yang Guang if they are inside the best way to get pictures is to place your phone or camera directly on the glass and it avoids most of the glare. Another option is, if your with someone have them hold up a coat or something similar to shadow your camera which again, will also block a lot of the glare.

It does tend to be busier in the mornings , although I expect it will be busy most of the day now as people will of course want to see as much of them as they can before they depart.

I recall that I saw this Musk Deer when I went to Berlin Tierpark in 2022. I think it was moulting at time of visit.
Was a nice animal to see, certainly don't expect to see another one in the immediate future ... would be nice though !
