Do you have information from where Arabian Oryxes where imported?
Faunaland acquired lots and LOTS of new animals which included:
And I saw in one video, an exhibit under construction in the bird island area. Probably for ostriches or other ratites like emus and rheas.
- Sailfin dragons
- Alligator snapping turtle
- Pied stilts
- Arabian oryx
- Cuvier's dwarf caiman (FINALLY A DANG CROCODILIAN)
- Leopard geckos
- Valais blacknose sheep
- Rhinoceros iguana

At least one Borneo Sunda clouded leopard is currently kept in a zoo in Sabah, MalaysiaI uploaded exactly 95 photos from my August 21st, 2024 visit. Many of the exhibits at this zoo are too small for the animals, but it's a zoo nerd paradise with rarities such as: Arabian Oryx, Sunda Clouded Leopard (possibly the only Bornean subspecies individual in captivity), Asiatic Golden Cat, Sumatran Dhole, Proboscis Monkey, Spectral Tarsier, Dusky Pademelon and Grizzled Tree Kangaroo. Plus there's an incredible looking albino Siamang and a troop of albino Crab-eating Macaques.
Did not have Indonesia and/or any Indonesian zoos already have some Arabian oryxes locally? No sadly
Probably either Saudi Arabia or UAE
Nope, Faunaland is as of now the only holder of the species in Indonesia. Ragunan once held oryx, though it had been gone for a while.Did not have Indonesia and/or any Indonesian zoos already have some Arabian oryxes locally?
Thanks, I was actually thinking about Ragunan Zoo over the Arabian oryx.Nope, Faunaland is as of now the only holder of the species in Indonesia. Ragunan once held oryx, though it had been gone for a while.
The management or board members of the zoo has quite close relation with an Emirati exotic pet keeper. Its possible that a couple of animals, like the oryx pair and an white camel, came as a result of their connections.
