Felids of the United States

Looks like Santa Ana's margay has passed away, too. The species is no longer held by anyone in the USA.
Dammit I was planning on taking a trip there next weekend. Well I think I’ll go to AoP instead then.
Edit: according to the most recent USDA files San Diego still has some Eurasian Lynx

Innocent until proven guilty, we know they were still held Africa Rocks was built so unless you have other evidence we have nothing to say they left the park or died yet.

That's not how this works. With that logic, any zoo could hold any species. The animal isn't on exhibit and isn't being used as an ambassador. There's no single piece of evidence that there's been one at the zoo in the last year.

Ok then I guess that’s fair if nobody can see it not much point in listing it here.

Safari North Wildlife Park now has jaguar, serval, fishing cat, & cheetah, and AFAIK, doesn’t have Canadian lynx anymore

I knew about the cheetah, but not the three others. That's a lot of cats! So lion, tiger, leopard, snow leopard, jaguar, cougar, bobcat, caracal, serval, fishing cat, and cheetah?

Dallas Zoo just received Clouded Leopards

Hamker Park & Zoo doesn’t keep Canadian Lynx at the moment, as the zoos two lynxes are on a temporary loan at Roosevelt Park Zoo.

Thanks! Forgot to post the cloudeds in here. I've been working on a couple of things and while I do update my own spreadsheet, those updates don't always make their way here ;)

I think that's something they've done in the past?

I see you have Eurasian Lynx listed for MToxins. My guess is they don't have it anymore. My understanding is that they used to have a larger mammal collection that's mostly gone now.

Thank you for thinking to check. Last december they had bobcat, raccoon, striped skunk, african porcupine, VA opossum, and red kangaroo, and then I found the lynx on a website or something. I'll put question marks on my spreadsheet for the lynx and bobcat.

It seems there may have been some changes recently that I noticed based on the list given.

1. Bronx Zoo had a Leopard in Jungle World last time I went in September. Uncertain about the subspecies.

2. Arnold's Wildlife Refuge, FL did not have a Jungle Cat or Cougar when I visited a few months ago. Only Caracal, Serval and Fishing Cat.

3. Palm Beach Zoo has both a Florida Panther and another Cougar from a different subspecies (not specified, but definitely not a Florida Panther).

4. The Cougar subspecies at Zoo Miami is a Florida Panther, and I'm 95% certain the one at Panther Ridge is as well.

5. The Serval is still present at Naples Zoo but is only shown during a show.

6. Audubon did not have a Wild Cat when I went less then 2 month ago. No signage/empty enclosure, either, so probably gone or no longer displayed publicly.

7. Black-footed Cat was not present at San Diego Safari Park when I went less then a month ago, no signage or empty enclosure either. Only Sand Cat was present. Could be gone or publicly off display.

8. There was no Clouded Leopard at San Diego Zoo.

The African wild cats were not at the Audubon Zoo, they were at the Freeport-McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center. The last remaining individuals have since passed away.

The black-footed cats at the Safari Park are behind-the-scenes currently.

The clouded leopards at the Zoo are ambassador animals.

The Bronx Zoo has a female Amur leopard.

There is one female black-footed cat named Yuna on exhibit at the Safari Park. She is in the enclosure next to Newman the sand cat. I saw her last month and have seen photos of her taken since then in that space.

As noted by @Kudu21, the clouded leopards at the San Diego Zoo serve as ambassador animals. I believe the best chance to see them is at the Animals in Action show. They have a male named Haui-san and a female named Ganda.

Went to CARE (Center for Animal Research and Education) last night and they recently received a rescued Margay that was under a year old from Amarillo. The owner of the sanctuary mentioned she is the only current Margay held in the US.

That got mentioned a few places on here, but I guess I missed updating this thread about it :) I've been doing a big update to this thread once a year but after spending so long on the ungulates thread, I need a break from checking to confirm species for a bit, lol.
