Also something that hasn't been posted yet is that the GSC has a TikTok account. It has started on April 1st. and now has over 100k followers!
 
Shark Week is in full swing at the GSC. It's about halfway through (It will be going until Saturday). I have the absolute pleasure of running the Discovery Table (The table that has all of the the shark jaws, teeth and other biofacts). I highly recommend stopping by if you are able to because there are some pretty neat things going on!


Shark Week activities go on from about 9:45am - 2:00pm
 
Here are some updates

  • The cassowaries have been out together!
  • Construction on Animal Discovery is going on to update some exhibits and view points. I have not been down yet to see exactly what's been done.
  • The tree houses are getting expanded soon
  • Construction for the Biodome and ARCC will begin in 2024 and the exhibits should open in late 2025- early 2026!! This means in 2026, we'll be getting the Biodome, ARCC, and the Asia expansion at the NC Zoo!! It's going to be a great year!
 
Other 2022 News:

On April18th, the center announced that a (1.0) African penguin named Artemis Newton hatched. He was introduced to the penguin colony on May 5th and is now on exhibit.

On May 16th, the center announced that all birds are back on exhibit due to no cases of avian influenza popping up in the area.

On June 3rd the center announced that The Cole Family Monarch Conservation Center and Butterfly House are now open to the public.

On June 3rd, the center announced they opened a new zipline called The Flyway to the public.

Drogo the Komodo Dragon passed away last night.

Greensboro Science Center Mourns Loss of Komodo Dragon

On June 28th, the center announced that a necropsy was performed on Drogo which concluded he suffered from a systematic bacterial infection stemming from a lesion within his lower gastrointestinal tract.

Some updates:

  • Red Panda "Ravi" has been moved to the indoor habitat and will get a little time outside everyday.
  • The construction on the Gibbon exhibit is not done. New mesh is being put in and part of the pathway is blocked off.
  • Set up for this year's Winter Wonderlights has begun. Though there isn't any major additions this year (compared to last year when Revolution Ridge was added) there is still several new things.
