Tatu is a good solid calf. I fell sick and missed his birth, but I know Autumn had a good, quick and easy labor. She's been taking excellent care of her new calf.
It's been very cold in Greenville, so none of the giraffes have been out on exhibit since the zoo re-opened. Hopefully the weather will improve so he and his mother can go outside.

Changes to the giraffe herd: male Walter will be heading for Turtle Back Zoo soon, while male Miles will arrive from Houston around late summer or early fall.

So many Greenville Zoo fans are upset about Walter. I've spent hours explaining why it's necessary, that his new zoo is going to be nice.
His fan base is pretty much pious, White, Christian Southerners. It's not a good idea to explain that he won't feel deprivation in a same sex herd. If you know what I mean and I think you do!

By the end of the month, the Zoo's pair of Bornean orangutans will be moved to new zoos. Male Mia is going to Hogle Zoo, and female Chelsea is off to Henry Vilas. A pair of Sumatran orangutans will take their place.
