Guess the species? #1

I agree with the others on the birds but will have a guess at collard peccary and black caiman for the other two.

1. Alexandrine paraket
2. European eagle owl
3. I can't pin down a specific answer, but I think it looks less like a suid and more like a bear (the head looks a little too 'flat' for a pig)
4. Moluccan cockatoo
5. I'm going to guess... American alligator

No, no!

1. Alexandrine Parakeet
2. Eurasian Eagle-owl
3. Bactrian Camel
4. Salmon-crested (Moluccan) Cockatoo
5. Slender-snouted Crocodile

Well done folks! I guess these were more difficult than I thought. I expected the birds to be really easy, and to some extent they were. I also thought that someone who was into reptiles would have easily identified the crocodilian, or you would have at least guessed the right answer after a google search. :D

Anyway, the answers are:

1. Alexandrine Parrot (Aviary in Hong Kong Park)
2. Eurasian Eagle Owl (Ocean Park, Hong Kong)
3. Bactrian Camel (London Zoo)
4. Salmon-crested (Moluccan) Cockatoo (Ocean Park, Hong Kong)
5. Chinese Alligator (Ocean Park, Hong Kong)

AnaheimZoo was closest first, with 4 out of 5, so he (or she) gets to post the next pics.

Ah-ha! It couldn't be anything but a camel! After, when I went on Google images to look at a Bactrian camel's face, I then had no doubt. The alligator one was very tough- I don't think anyone here (except maybe a crocodilian expert) could've guessed that one, nanoboy. ;) Very good job posting the challenging pics!

*He, by the way. :D

Here I go again, I guess!

Well, I'm going to upload 8 crops, although the maximum number of attachments is 6. The other 2 will be on my next post.

*Should there be a limit to the photos one posts on their turn? ;)

Not easy, will hazard a guess at 4 of them, the others I wouldn't know where to start narrowing it down:

1) Polar bear
2) Common wombat
3) Blue/paradise crane
5) Gazelle? can't be more specific :p

I'll wait 'til a few others guess, then I'll tell you how many, IF ANY, you got right. ;)

And I saw your original guess for #5. Rothschild's giraffe :p... well, it is a very tough one.

Gazelle is incorrect.
Blue crane is incorrect.
That's all I'm giving you for now.

Maybe our friend BEARDSLEYZOOFAN can offer a few guesses. ;)

That is if he decides to post... :) He's never online during any of this.

Right, I'm gonna go for the first 6 :p

1) Polar bear

2) Common wombat

3) Demoiselle crane - not confident with that, but thinking of bluey/slaty coloured cranes, can't see a crown for it to be a crowned crane.

4) Squirrel [how specific do I have to be?], won't say grey squirrel as it looks like it's got tufted ears as opposed to rounded ears, reckon that's the secret. Will say red squirrel, as some of them are naturally greyish.

5) hind leg of a pronghorn

6) Short-beaked echidna

Also reckon I'm being tricked with the last two, I'm gonna go all out and just come out with what I'm thinking:

7) Domestic cattle

8) Domestic chicken :p

The worst I can be is wrong :D

I'd say you at least have to give the entire species name (i.e. red squirrel, gray squirrel, etc.). But, I'm sorry, where do you see ears in that picture? :D

I'd hate to leave you hanging. You've got 1 right. :)

EDIT:
After your edit, you've got 2 right. Try to elaborate on that "Domestic cattle," if you can. ;)

Ohhh, it's a backside :p - I couldn't work it out, and thought the tail was a pair of tufted ears :o

No idea then, may have to get back to you on that but don't reckon I'll get it :p

That's the best your gonna get I think, I can say cow, or calf, but I don't do domestics so if you're expecting a breed then no can do :p

OOOOH! I see what you're talking about! You're right, it looks like something digging into the ground with its head to the floor! Ah, I didn't notice that... :p

Ah, well, if you get the other 7 I'll give you your much-desired turn. :D If no one else can get it, I'll just give you guys that one as a free-bee.

I'm gonna take a shot at these, some of them are easy for me.;)
1. Polar Bear
2. I honestly have no idea.
3. Sandhill Crane
4. Black-Tailed Prairie Dog
5. Pronghorn
6. I'm going to guess North American Porcupine or Chacoan Peccary
7. Dexter Cattle
8. Greater Rhea

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 correct guesses (not in order, though)! DING DING DING DING! But- what is that I see? An OR for number 6? You'll have to decide which on that one.

JavanRhino and BeardsleyZooFan, you both have Polar Bear right.

BZF's got 5 right, but which ones?
Sandhill Crane
Black-tailed Prairie Dog
Dexter Cattle (there 'ya go JavanRhino :))
and Greater Rhea

The last three remain a mystery...

Okay let's see...
I'll just go with Chacoan Peccary for number 6.
If Pronghorn's not correct for #4, and I'm not sure if those are hooves at the bottom of it's leg, Red Wolf?
#3 is still hard. Just because of those pointed ears and dark round body, Guinea Hog?

I came in too late to try this one, most have already been got, but I'll just give the players the identity of number 2 and they can fight it out over number 5 ;)
