A cleaner is in a serious condition in hospital and two other staff were injured after an adult Giant Otter escaped from it's enclosure last weekend

At Tierpark Hagenbeck a small group of one male and 2 females Cape Hyraxes were joint last year by a new female from Stuttgart.
This was a right dicicion as it was this new female which gave birth to 2 young at the beginning of March.

What ? Really ? Wow-that's amazing-hopefully a female, so it could be Germanys next topmodel ..Impressive-our first walrus calf! That's defenitely the breeding succes of the year in germany.So, finger crossed, everything will be fine !

Have the Psilopogon pyrolophus bred yet?
There are a couple in private breeders collections and San Diego Zoo sent a male over. Hopefully this species can have a future in Europe.

The breeding-success of the year would be a chick of Psilopogon pyrolophus at Cologne!
But a baby walrus is nice too
NO bird of the world could be better than the first german walrus calf
By the way-whats the english or german name of that species ? I'm not in birds and I don't want to google for it-not for a bird
By the way 2 : Suggestion to the moderators-it would be better to rename that thread into"Hagenbeck"-Hamburg Zoo was the old City Zoo in Hamburg,founded in 1863, rebuild to a birdpark
in 1930 and finally closed in 1930...
By the way 3: Already any offical news of the walrus calf, or what is your source of that information ?

Unfortuantely, I can't open the link to facebook, im not a member of this"Social network",so in which seperate pool mother and calf are kept ? There is no seperate pool to the walrus enclosure.

Lamina said that they are in the pool behind fur seals exhibit. Maybe it is not separate pool but part of fur seals' pool?

The name ist Fire-tufted barbet or in german Rotbüschel-Bartvogel.
Just a Bartvogel ? So nothing special...I thought, it its REALLY an interesting rare bird like a Schuhschnabel....
Althrough a Walrus birth is intresting, the hatching of a Fire-tufted Barbet is as intresting as well !
