Can I ask how they have got round the Asian Lion studbook rule of that a zoo cannot keep,Asian Lions if they already hold African Lions as the last time I spoke to the studbook holder he wasn't planning,on changing it anytime soon?Thank you all
Arizona Docent, I can tell you the news animals in 2012 in Le Parc des Felins
African black-footed cat and Asian Lion, are the new species
Well if they are going to do that it could be the saving of the program, but I didn't get the impression from the studbook holder in september last year that, any collection that already held African Lions would be getting them anytime soon, but I'm prepared to be proved wrong of it happens. The asiatic lion EEP needs new holders and the policy (not rule) to only allow holders who doesn't keep other lions makes it harder to find new holders. If a new institution can prove that they can guarantee that they will keep their asiatic lions FIV free, I'd imagine they'd have a fair chance of being accepted as holders.
