Hello from Germany

I'm from near Nuremberg. I've been interested in zoos for about 15 years. Since then, I've spent my holidays discovering new zoos in Central Europe or revisiting familiar ones. That's how I came across this forum a long time ago.

I'm a species hunter, always looking for animal species I haven't photographed yet. But I also find it exciting to visit new zoos, even if the collection doesn't appeal to me. Sometimes you're surprised.

My 200th zoo visit was exactly on my 50th birthday (Zoo Salzburg).

I also like birds, reptiles and small mammals. And every now and then, there are times when I enjoy going to aquariums.

Unfortunately, my English isn't that great (but I'm still planning a trip to the United Kingdom next year ;)). Reading is fine, but writing, unfortunately, requires a translator.

Willkommen, Willkommen! Meine Tochter und ich lieben es, gemeinsam Zoos in Europa zum Fotografieren zu erkunden. Sie übt für unsere nächste Safari. Mein geschriebenes Deutsch ist nicht so toll, aber ich spreche gut. Was ist dein Lieblingszoo in Deutschland? Haben Sie den Lumingy Safari Park in der Nähe von Paris besucht? Dies ist ein fantastischer Ort zum Fotografieren. Wir gehen hin und beobachten die Tiere tagelang.

I don't really have a favourite zoo in Germany, but there are a few that I enjoy visiting again and again.

– My local zoo, Tiergarten Nürnberg, in winter.
– Wilhelma in Stuttgart because of the birds. And the magnolia blossom is also something very special.
– Cologne Zoo because of the birds and the monitor lizards (my favourite reptiles).
– Berlin Zoo and Tierpark. I like both.
– Walsrode (of course – as a species hunter, you discover something new every year).

However, my favourite zoo in my area is Prague Zoo. Especially in the evening, when it gets quieter.

I was in Paris this spring and of course visited the Lumingy Safari Park. I really enjoyed it.

I've been to France three times in the last two years. Last year I travelled to the west, this year to Paris and a few weeks ago to the south of France (unfortunately, my camper van gave me some problems and, as a woman travelling alone without a word of French, it was very stressful and I had to come home a little earlier than planned).
