Hogle Zoo Hogle Zoo News

Willow, a female giraffe calf that was born in January of 2016, will soon be relocated to the Jacksonville Zoo where hopefully she can start a family of her own.

In the recent Member Magazine it mentions that Red Pandas will be coming back to the zoo. A new exhibit is being built near Asian Highlands. In the magazine there is a rendering for the exhibit and it is supposed to open late spring 2018.

An excellent reintroduction of a species that will fit well in that area! Thanks for sharing the newsletter. I also enjoyed reading about the new polar bears there.

I believe the Red Pandas are currently residing at the Reid Park Zoo while their exhibit is built.

Does anyone know whether the zoo will be getting another elephant to meet the standards of AZA. Or if they will artificially inseminate Christie again?

I believe they are still within AZA standards if they are actively seeking to have 3 elephants and they are able to house that number.

Could Christie have been artificially inseminated prior to now and be pregnant at the moment, or is that not possible?
