In general houston zoo has downsized the number of species to make way for larger modern habitats since Lee Ehmke was the director as many other AZA zoos have done over the years. For example, when I went to houston zoo frequently as a kid, they had tons of antelope species in rows of ugly smaller exhibits that look like house backyards. Now they have bongo and 2 duiker breeds. The ankoles could act as wild african antelopes there as cattle and antelope are biologically related and they're located by the zebras and wild dogs. Not just that but also Squirrel Monkeys and Maned Wolves too.![]()
