If you had a zoo, what 5 species would yo definitely have?

I don’t think any of those species could be considered a “realistic” species for a zoo to keep, all of which requiring specialist care and not being particularly present in captivity with perhaps the exception of the elephant.

True! I think I meant "capable of being kept in captivity without too any problems" instead of "common in zoos"

The elephant-shrew is somewhat abundant in European zoos but for the most part, yeah, those marine species are neither readily available or easily kept once brought into captivity.

Why & how do African antelopes automatically add a "very historic feeling" to zoos?
They just kind of give off that vibe, like you’re traveling to a whole new world.
I might be kind of biased though, because my home zoo is very historically themed.

To you maybe. Tuataras, sturgeons or giant salamanders, among others, I could understand to evoke individual connotations of (pre)history in most people, but I have never felt any "otherworldly vibe" around antelopes, may they be of African or Asian origin.
And I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in that...

Long-tailed pangolin (A long shot, I know)
Aardvark
African brush-tailed porcupine
Springhaas
Rusty-spotted genet

What can I say, I have a thing for regionally connected exhibits. As well as nocturnal enclosures and walkthroughs

5 you say?
I would want any Bryozoa.
I would want any Tanaid.
I would want any Tunicate.
I would want a Moonrat, Angwantibo, Anomalure, Tibetan antelope, and a plethora of Rodents.
An extensive wasp collection.
Eudemonia argus,
More Jumping spiders.
Any Myzomela
King-of-the-salmon.
More Amphipods.
Even more amphipods.
A Brookesia chameleon and A Sunbeam snake, A Xenodermus, a Tukutuku, and a San fransisco garter snake.
Tana river Mangabey or Red colobus
More Viverridae.
Even more Viverridae.
More Caecilians
Pretty much any deep sea organism to ever lived.
And an Ariakehimeshirauo
Plus 50'000 more species.

:p

Tibetan antelope is a very impressive species but I am not sure whether they can be kept well in captivity. Did any zoo try it out?

I would have:
-The darkling beetle Scaurus punctatus
-The darkling beetle Tentyria peirolei
-The darkling beetle Akis genei
-The darkling beetle Gonocephalum granulatum
-The darkling beetle Crypticus gibbulus

Oh wait, this is what I actually have in a single small terrarium in my window. So now I realize I have a zoo :D

For me, it would probably be the following species when it comes to listing mammals:

* Either the African Bush Elephant or the Southern White Rhinoceros (however both are still equally beautiful in their own right)

* Either the Asian Small-Clawed Otter or the North American River Otter (both are fun and engaging to watch)

* Jaguar

* Either the Mongoose Lemur or the Coquerel’s Sifaka (both are endangered and are equally entertaining)

* Black-and-Rufous Elephant Shrew
