Iguanaland Iguanaland - Punta Gorda ( Florida )

from this post on facebook, one of the zoos Anegada Island Iguanas is building a nest, from the comments the owner mentioned that a 2nd female has already laid 2 fertile eggs and 4 bad eggs, really hoping the 2nd female's eggs are good, we have so few Anegada Island Iguanas in the country!

Anyone have any information as to the outcome? Have some of the eggs proved fertile from both females and have they hatched at all?

Since the zoo didn't announce them...I fear the eggs were not good or went bad. I don't see any reason why Iguanaland wouldn't post about them if they did hatch.

that said it seems they are hopeful and ready to try again this year.

The zoo has announced they've collected three clutches of eggs from the critically endangered Timor Snake-Necked Turtle (Chelodina mccordi timorensis) equally 25 eggs (if I'm hearing the video correctly, the audio is a little difficult to make out).

I'm not sure how many the zoo keeps behind the scenes, but I counted 4-5 on-exhibit back in February.

Correction, 35 eggs**

Some other pieces of news not discussed yet:

-Iguanaland is going for ZAA accreditation and has been making upgrades to their facilities with the aim of being "the best" zoo in the ZAA.
-Work has finally restarted on the Cyclura center enclosures. These were in-progress during my first visit back in Feb. 2023, but have been left untouched for over a year now due to money going towards hurricane repairs/storm fortification.
-Ty posted on his personal FB account that he intends to add roughly 100 habitats to Iguanaland by the end of 2025.

Iguanaland received their ZAA accreditation.

Does this mean that Ty won't be able to sell his animals on sites like MorphMarket anymore? I really hope not. I know Sam Pascucci over at Florida Iguana and Tortoise Breeders has his facility accredited by them and he's able to sell, but I don't know if the higher ups are too happy about it.

I would be very surprised if he stopped selling.
