Introducing myself....

Hi all,

I've read many interesting posts & threads here for the past two or three years. And since I finally got tired of not being able to view all your wonderful pictures and so have registered, I thought I would provide a bit of relevant info.

My husband and I are long-time members and frequent visitors of the San Diego Zoo and the Los Angeles Zoo. In more recent years, we've also become members of the smaller but beautiful Santa Barbara zoo, and the Santa Ana zoo (aka the Monkey zoo), and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Other zoos I/we have visited in recent years: the Fresno Chaffee Zoo (Oct 2010), the Audobon Zoo & Aquarium in New Orleans (July 2010), the National Zoo in D.C. (2009), the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, & NY Aquarium (2008 & 2009), Denver Zoo (2008), Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, Calif. (2008), the Adventure Aquarium in Camden, New Jersey (2007), and SeaWorld San Diego (2007 & 2010).

My name is a tribute to a favorite animal at the SD Zoo, who was formerly at the SDWAP.

Thanks for your time. I look forward to continue reading many interesting and informative posts, while enjoying your photos, too.

Welcome ChaCha, hopefully not just reading, i hope you can contribute too :)

Thanks for the welcome, mstickmanp, MARK, & kiang,

I will try to contribute, so I posted a few photos I thought folks might like: Three pics of polar bear siblings Kalluk & Tatqiq playing at the SD Zoo from last year (they think Kalluk's mate Chinook is pregnant, possibly with twins). Four pics of Jabba the hippo taken at a recent member morning at the LA Zoo (formerly of the SD Zoo, Jabba was swapped with former LA Zoo hippo Otis, and they think their hippo mate Funani is pregnant from Otis). Two pics of a male pangolin at the SD Children's Zoo. I had never seen one outside of photos, and their scales really are incredible looking.

Welcome to Zoochat and thank you for the photos. :)

p.s. What is ChaCha?

Thank you ChaCha for signing on to zoo chat. I hope you find it as useful as I have. My I ask what your interest is in animals?

Welcome to ZC

A pangolin hey - always wanted to see one of them they fascinate me the way their scales fit perfectly - evolution gets it right hey!!

Welcome to ZooChat ChaCha. It is nice to have another Southern Californian! Nice resume of zoo visits as well. I've been a long time member of GLAZA myself, and have also been a member of San Diego in the past as well. And love to visit the Santa Barbara Zoo also. I'll be checking out your photo posts just as soon as I finish writing.

Welcome to the forum ZooChat, I remember fondly seeing your namesake performing at Tembo Stadium at the Wild Animal Park.
