Jember Mini Zoo

Honestly, this is the best mini zoo in Indonesia, from the exhibit design to the layout of the area. And unexpectedly, this mini zoo can have birds of paradise, perhaps only this mini zoo has it.

Certainly an interesting institution, but calling it the best mini zoo in Indonesia feels like a stretch, depending on what your definition of what a "mini zoo" is.

Enclosures generally look cramped or sparsely decorated with lots of them having unnatural concrete floors, the Fly River Turtle aquarium in particular is rather sad to look at with how many are crammed in there.

The only enclosures I would consider better than decent are the ones for gibbons, with a rather tall aviary that allows them to climb, and the tiger enclosure, even if it is still sparsely decorated.

Looks like Lembang Park & Zoo in terms of size and collection, and I'm surprised that they have tigers as well (Bengal or Siberian, methinks)

With how they work, I have no clue why they still retain the "mini" title, I presume just for branding and recognizability. They're pretty much a zoo in operation, not a small-scale mini zoo.

Most of the exhibits are mediocre at best; cement brick flooring, tethered birds in the "Owl House", open exhibit that encourage interaction and visibility. Some of these exhibits have no different from the ever worse Semarang Zoo. How they get some of their animals, especially the red bird-of-paradise, are very questionable. You can easily get tigers of you have the money and connections in Indonesia and it's fairly easy for a lot of facilities to get (Generic) tigers anyway, so nothing to get suprised of.

Again, this is to show how influential Lembang Park & Zoo in the design and management of newer post-2020 zoos (And how detrimental they are).

I told you that this park reminded me of LPZ. Even the collection reminds me of LPZ. I wish we get more "legit" zoos than "LPZ clones" like this that has 0 conservational values.
