According to the french forum, the zoo is building an hotel and two new enclosures for lions and cheetahs in the historical part. No more info for the moment but since a few years the zoo wanted to add an african savannah area to relocate its giraffe herd, hippopotamuses, lions...
More infos have bee released about the future project : The zoo will have a 4,4 hectares enlargement on the car park (which will be transfered in another area).
The new enclosures will be :
- 1,2 hectare african savannah for giraffes, crowned cranes, impalas, greater kudus, Cap elands, sable antelopes, zebras and ostriches (all new species except giraffes and cranes),
- 2.500 square meters lion enclosure,
- 2.500 square meters cheetah enclosure,
- 2.500 square meters common hippo enclosure with a 800 square meters pond,
- a spotted hyena enclosure (new species),
- a gambian rat exhibit (new species),
- a red river hog + guenon exhibit (new species),
- an island for patas (new) and colobus,
- a serval enclosure,
- new exhibit for meerkats, dik-diks (new) and african spurred tortoises,
- aviary for african grey parrots,
- aviary for Von der Decken's hornbills and passerines.
Of course, there will be new lodges on lions/cheetahs/savannah.
