According to ISIS, LA lost 0.1 red uakari (probably one of the two elderly females?)

Crying shame they can't get these animals to breed :(

Blackduiker

Well I had another enjoyable evening at the zoo's Music In The Park(Classic Rock). I did catch a glimpse of the Giant Otter lying in a log, lower torso view of her tail and back legs. Not quite mstickmanp's good fortunes, but Mario, I did see the baby Takin again! She was laid out with her mother and very inactive this time. No sighting of the African Wild Dogs though, I wanted to see the new female. Caught a glimpse of one of the new Yellow-backed Duikers now sharing the Bongo exhibit. Good to see that species back in LA after many years absent. The crowd was probably twice the size this time.

I haven't been to any Music in the Zoo events since 2006, so I really don't remember much about it.

I got new photos of the giant otter and the Yellow-backed Duiker, which I'll upload later today.

Are the snow leopard cubs on exhibit yet? I may be at the L.A. Zoo for a couple hours this Sunday and would love to photograph them.

Brookfield zoo got in a large bull Grey Seal named Minnow from LA zoo. Whoever mentioned grey seal to brookfield zoo is correct

I was at the zoo today and I saw TWO Giant Otters on exhibit. I did know that the zoo would be getting a male for the new female, but I didn't know it was going to be that fast. I still don't know where the male came from, so I'll try to figure it out in the next couple of weeks. I did take photos, but since they were moving so fast, all of my photos came out blurry.

Well, I think I found your awnser

I checked Philly's website and noted Rojo's profile was mising from the giant otter page

He must have transferred here and are prediction was right all along

I thought the plan was to get a male from the Cali Zoo though

Also, what is the LA female's name?

I don't really know what happened with the male from Cali Zoo and I don't know the female's name yet. I'll try to find the answers this coming week.

According to the zoo's map, the Royal Antelope are now being exhibited in the former Red-flanked Duiker exhibit in one of the Roundhouses. According to ISIS, the Royal Antelope pair also had a baby recently.

I don't know if the Red-flanked Duikers are being exhibited somewhere else in the zoo.

Hey Mario, what's up with the Royal Antelope information? Shortly after reading this post I visited the zoo, and yes, the map did show Royal Antelopes in the "former" Red-flanked Duiker exhibit, but on my arrival to that location no Royal Antelopes. The Duiker sign was still on display and I believe the Duikers were still there as well. And according to ISIS, which I just recently checked, now only one remaining Royal Antelope for Los Angeles. I know you generally volunteer on weekends, so maybe you'll have an update this evening. My last visit was 2 weeks ago.

Mario, I saw your pictures on facebook of the chimpanzee hammocks, they look like quite the project!

Also, do you have any news on our hunch about the male giant otter?
