As announced in the Tapei Zoo thread, 1.1.0 pangolins (species not named, however, presumed to be Manis pentadactyla) are due to arrive at Zoo Leipzig from Tapei Zoo.

Linton Zoo in the UK actually managed to breed two Eastern quolls last year aswell7 Easter quolls were born last year. Unfortunately Leipzig was the only breeder in europe once again in 2023.

Male Transvaal lion KIYAN (* to MAJO and KIGALI in Leipzig, march 7th, 2021) was shipped to a zoo in Croatia.
According to ZTL, he was sent to Osijek Zoo, and is the only subspecies-pure Transvaal at the collection, although there are also at least two female generic lions who arrived from Sosto Zoo in Hungary per a brief search. It has no mention of cubs, nor does any of the zoo's social media that I can find.Does anyone have an update on Kiyan -- which zoo he went to in Croatia, and/or if he is still alive? Cubs? Thanks in advance!
This a dramatic turn of events. I do hope that law enforcement will now accord due diligence in dealing with the criminal networks active in the illegal wildlife tradeA female lion tailed macaque is suspected to have been stolen. There are traces of trapping and burglary. The zoo is working with the police to find the perpetrators.
Instagram post of the news.
This is no playing kids' games, it is top big crime networks at work here.If this turns out to be organised crime rather than a spontaneous act by stupid individuals, the implications for zoos everywhere too scary to think about.
I think you underestimate to what length the illegal wild animal trade has invaded regular society and is able to pull off stealing zoo animals overnight.I think you two are making this way daunting than it actually is, but that's just my honest opinion; the monkey has already returned the zoo, it was spotted by a jogger on a tree in the city, police caught it and returned it, from a quick veterinary checkup it doesn't seem to have been injured.
