Noah's Ark Zoo Farm Lions and Tigers

I don't know is the short answer. I would imagine they will source female giraffes eventually. Are they typical zoo giraffes or Rothschild's? I would be amazed if they could source bears and elephants, however.
Well the male Giraffe that they have is a hybrid from somewhere in Sweden,as for the females i had heard that they were going to get 2 pure bred Transvaal Giraffes from South Africa but i believe the deal fell through and now they are getting 2 hybrids from somewhere in the U.K,but at the moment don`t know of any that are surplus.

What was the last UK zoo to start keeping elephants? Can't think of any recent ones.

West Midlands Safari park maybe?
They started keeping them in 1998.

Yep i agree with you pretty sure thats the last one to start to keep them. Now Noahs are planning to get them, plus another place is looking at keeping a batchelor group of African Elephants won`t name the place but have now heard it from 3 independent sources.

that must have been annoying for the zoo, ive heard they have a goat and single zebra keeping him company!

I was very surprised when I read on their web-site of the planned importation . I know lots of white rhino have come to the UK from South Africa but did not know it was possible to import giraffes - or perhaps it was not and it was just wishful thinking . Anyone know ?

They only need a single female, at least to start with. Marwell have a number of xbreds, maybe they could oblige with one?

maybe but they could be still after some pure breds which will be hard to find!

Another zoogiraffe mystery to be solved, i will stick my head out and say Flamingoland in Yorkshire, they have held Asian elephants in the past.

has flamingoland really go the room though? i was thinking marwell, paignton or somewhere like that?

Paignton already have elephants a female African and a female Asian.

but alot of people on here have discussed about them being replaced if im correct

I would say South Lakes but they dont have the space do they. Oh Dartmmor Zoological Park is another one maybe, Ben Meade mentions it on the website but maybe not so early on. Are Edinburgh confirmed to be getting them? Otherwise it could be them. If we arent counting them then id say Marwell.

Paignton don't have the space or reinforcements for a batchelor group. Plus I think the girls have quite a few years left yet. If a collection was to begin keeping elephants, why on earth would they start with males? And african ones too.
I reckon it'd be a cold day in hell before dartmoor get elephants - they'd have to keep all of their animals inside their enclosures for ooh at least a couple of years first.

I'd guess...dunno. Maybe the cribbs causeway site if it ever happens, but that's not necessarily "begining" to keep elephants, as Bristol have kept eles in the past.

I like to keep you all on your toes, some clever people have all ready got it right on the thread but sorry Kiang you are wrong, will give you a clue its a place that i`m not the greatest fan of!!!!!!

Dartmoor - not in a million years!

Zoogiraffe its south lakes isnt it?

Until the place admits it i`m keeping quite but it does seem to be resonably well know within the in zoo circle.

I think Paignton could maybe keep 2 male eles. They'd just need to maybe split the outdoor enclosure into 2 parts and make the house more "bull proof".
The outdoor area is nowhere near big enough to house a breeding herd.
I think they're more likely not to replace their current eles when they die though.
