Longleat Safari & Adventure Park lions

Flamingoland had 8 lions listed on ISIS a while ago. i think 2 litters have been born there (2 cubs recently) Whether some have been moved to other collections though...?

The pride consisted of 1:3 before any cubs where born at Flamingoland. So the additional lionesses must have been Zazzi's offspring from Longleat

All related females (siblings, half siblings, cousins) around 8-10 years old. no plans to breed from them. Related to Charlie the male.

I think that's everything that could possibly be covered on the Longleat lion prides really!!

lucky parrot. i have heard several storys of animals getting into enclosures (deer, squirals, ducks, pelicans) they dont all make it.

Just some additional information regarding the cubs born to Zazzi and Kumali..

Five new lion cubs were celebrating their first birthday (Jly 24th 2010) at Flamingo Land. They were Jumatatu, Jumanne, Jumatano, Alhamisi and Ijumaa, whose names mean Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Swahili. Their arrival 12 months ago was anything but a normal one, with their ten-year-old mother, Zazzi, taking four days to give birth, but the two male and three female lions all emerged fit and healthy and were proving to be quite a handful for their mum and their father, Kumali, seven, as well as their two older sisters, Miska and Niyaka.

About the old pride B lions Mafui, amy etc, when the pride was split when kabir came the old ones did indeed live out their retirement at longleat off show, and were not just euthanised as has been suggested. They are however now all dead but the females were in their 20's and mafui in his late teens when they died. animal park probably stopped reporting on them as they were no longer on show to the public and it was much more interesting to film new cubs etc and charlie and his harem than a few geriatric lions.

That makes sense to me as a lot of effort was put in to constructing a tunnel on the out side of the pride B lion house, so that the two prides would never come in to contact when both prides where using the house.. I was under the impression there was an off show out side enclosure I suppose they could have used this as a retirement home for these old timers.. Bunnylion is right 3 or 4 geriatric lions sleeping a lot of the day does not make for good television viewing..

Both prides shared the same house but it was divided so they could not see each other. Kabir's lot were out during the day time whilst the old ones had the run of the whole house, then once the park closed kabir etc were put back in the house for the night and the old ones given access to the outdoor enclosure, so basically they were off show, but in the same enclosure. I believe this is what will now happen to charlie's old girls in the 1st pride now that a new group of youngsters is being established.
