Jardim Zoológico de Lisboa Lisbon Zoo

Bumping this thread to ask if anyone has any general advice for this zoo. I know that Savana MEO is supposed to be their new exhibit for large African species like elephants, giraffes, and hippos

I visited over New Years, probably stating the obvious but the Iberian Lynx were very elusive and got the impression only one had access to the on show enclosure, so I’d head right at the entrance and go there first as you’ll probably have to make multiple trips back that day to see them.

Ngl, having visited the zoo, I feel it's somewhat mid with good and bad points. I have some suggestions that I think could improve the lot for many species there but that's for later.

Does anybody have a tip to see the iberian lynx? Maybe a time they get fed or something?
I was in the zoo today, but no luck with seeing an iberian lynx, we tried 6 times during the day, starting at opening time and the last try at the end of the day. We might have time to give it another go saturday

About Sumatran tigers, really few informations from the zoo...
- What is the name of the actual ones ?
- Is LAGARTO (born 2009 and present in 2012) still there, or did he move ?

dear all, a zoo lover from Singapore here.

It looks like I’ll have the exciting opportunity to visit Lisbon in January 2025, and your zoo is at the top of my list.

One animal I absolutely must see is the Iberian Lynx. Additionally, I’d like to ask whether the animals from Africa will be housed exclusively in indoor facilities during that time of year.

Thanks a lot.

Hello.
I went to Lisbon on July 2018. By the looks of it, no animals had winter quarters. Portugal may just be too hot and the Lisbon zoo might be too underfunded to build them.
They also have Angolan giraffe and Iberian wolf.
If they haven't died out, make sure to see their short-tailed parrots.
