What day are you going? I'm going to be there in about 3 weeks (on 15 October). If our dates are the same, I'd love to meet you.

I'm not sure yet.

It will depend on my schedule, not on me :(

But 15 IS a possibility. If so, I would also love to me you! I will let you know when I have a definite date.
Anyway, if any help need to find a way in Portugal, let me know.

Can you have a look after the orang-utans. I want to know how the lilttle girl looks like and if she is well.
She and her mother are from Hamburg's Hagenbeck Tierpark, so I'm always happy to find some information.
Thanks and have fun. :)

ISIS is reporting the birth of 1:2 Sumatran Tiger cubs. Can someone please confirm this?

According to sources on the net (i believe elephant.se?) male elephant John (their breeding bull) is dead. We're now having a discussion on the dutch forums wheither his son "Trombinhas" (2004) is still alive or not. Anyone a definite answer?

Thanks for the info Sitara, my source about the death of "John" is somebody on the Dutch forums who didn't enter a source for his information. I've asked him, and if I know more I'll let you know :)

So, besides Big John, who is the other young male living with him (at least untill July 2010)?

According to someone on the Dutch forums, there is no young male in Lisbon Zoo. At the moment he/she recons there are 3 adult females and 2 female calves...

A male white rhino has been born at Lisbon Zoo on the 7th of December.

Its the first baby born of this spp at the Zoo and all is OK with the baby (male) and with the mother.

LZ currently has 2.2 adult white rhinos. I dont know who are the parents, only that the father is 24years old and the mother 9 years old.

The other female is also pregnant and due in two months.
