They’ll need really tall toilets if the giraffes are going to use them.....also quite a sophisticated training regime

In case if anyone wants to know why the bats have to leave Longleat and that's because what people may not realize that the building where the bats were was the old coach house and it's has the horses and carts which is part of Longleat House and the building is now been given back to the heritage team so that it can be restored back to it's former glory and as such the bats have to be moved out of Longleat and they are now at their new home at Bicton College in Devon .

Where are the other residents of the bat exhibit such as the kinkajou?
When I visited on Monday the Kinkajou were in Jungle Kingdom in the old coati indoor enclosure, next door to the Binturongs.
Went a week ago today but haven't got round to posting about the developments until now.
First of all, the elk enclosure is no more - the fence has been taken down and it is now just part of the East Africa Reserve as it was before the Elk. I think this was mainly because you can can now book to stay in the cottage where the view of seeing giraffe and zebra has been heavily publicised. There is now a newly created small enclosure at the top left hand side of the reserve but that had nothing in. I assume it will be holding enclosure.
In the walk about areas, a lot of painting work had gone on. The two Binturong were out in their enclosure in Jungle Kingdom, the enclosure now has a lot of added climbing facilities and trees, they weren't mixed with the otters. The latter were confined to their house. As I mentioned earlier this week, the Kinkajou are now in the old coati indoor enclosure. I saw 1.1 Dik Dik in the former coati outdoor enclosure, a keeper told me that there were 1.2 but they lost one female. The climbing apparatus is still up in the enclosure from when it belonged to the Coati.
The 'Monkey Temple' area is now one aviary which houses Red-handed tamarins. A keeper told me that they still have the other species of marmosets and tamarins off show, and the long term plan is to rotate them in the new aviary. I have added a photo to the gallery if anyone is interested.
The koalas are mixed. 1.1 are in the 'female' enclosure and 1.1 in main the male enclosure. The keepers are as ever hopeful for Joeys.
Saw all five gorillas, they appeared to be getting on well and in the words of the commentator on the boat 'they are getting on much better'. No sign of any Emu at 'Family Farmyard' so hopefully that's promising for Emu chicks, there are also two baby pigmy goats at the farm. And finally, one of the lion-head rabbits is now in with the Guinea Pigs in Animal Adventure.

If anyone who wanted to see Giant Otters and Crocodiles, visiting the new mammal exhibit and also the Animal Handling Area where you can handle a snake but will be restricted at the moment. Well there is brilliant news from today Log into Facebook
