As far as being more of a zoo enthusiast in general, I've found the posts by one of ZooChat's members, @snowleopard, to be greatly informative and inspiring. He has been to over 600 zoos all around the world and has posted many travel threads on this site. It's very interesting to compare the L.A. Thank you for the information and response.I have previously been a member of the Los Angeles Zoo for the last 11-12 years and was just looking towards to buying another membership since my last one expired in October.I have checked out @snowleopard’s page and threads and have also found it very inspiring.Thank you for the information again and I look forward to forward to becoming more of a zoo enthusiast:).

In this wildfire map, it doesn't seem like Los Angeles Zoo is affected by the fire. 3 days ago, the zoo responded to a comment saying "The Zoo staff is working diligently to ensure the care and wellbeing of the animals. The zoo campus, critical infrastructure, and animals have not been impacted by the windstorm or wildfires. Thank you for your continued support of the L.A. Zoo."
It was also previously mentioned(by Great Argus) that the Zoo is closed until further notice. Be safe everyone living in Southern California.

The winds in LA are said to pick back up again on Monday morning which is tomorrow if you are reading this on Jan.12.The zoo will possibly be closed tomorrow due to high winds and poor air quality previously stated by @Great Argus.Hope this answers any questions about the zoo’s weather @Toledo Zoo Guide.

Here is an update from yesterday via Facebook:
"UPDATE: As of today, January 14, 2025, the Los Angeles Zoo remains temporarily closed along with the entirety of Griffith Park where the Zoo is located. Zoo staff have been working diligently to ensure the care and well-being of the animals throughout the emergency situation. Animal care remains a top priority and all of the animals at the Zoo are doing fine. The Zoo is not in immediate danger from the fires and no evacuations have been initiated as the Zoo remains outside of the evacuation warning zones. Other than some down trees and branches from the initial windstorm, the Zoo has incurred no damage to buildings or critical infrastructure, and there have been no injuries to staff or animals.
We continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide updates to Zoo operations as they change."

A GoFundMe started in Sept 2024 originally said that the 4 zoos will receive them between December 2024 and March 2025. Singapore's Tasmanian Devils will most likely be going to the Night Safari. However, when I spoke to the Tasmanian Devil keeper on 19 Jan, she said that it was still not settled where the 9.2 are going to go. She said that there was a possibility that they may only come next year. Hopefully this export happens sooner rather than later.

I also hope everyone affected by the wildfires stays safe and takes care during this difficult time.

Ah, so it looks like we are having the same conversation again. :confused: You have asked this 4 times in the last six months on this thread and last year’s thread, including once two weeks ago. Once again, it is really annoying to see duplicate questions and people probably don’t know the answer if you aren’t getting responses. Aside from that, I think it would be best for you to create and post your questions in a zoo discussion thread rather than the news thread considering the number of questions asked by all members about the zoo on here.

Samuel, the best way to get an answer to your question may be for you to ask the zoo over their social media. They have not announced any plans for future exhibits, so it may be a long time before they have any news to share about this. The best way to know that for sure though is to ask them directly.

We have several LA Zoo members here, and as soon as the zoo mentions anything publicly somebody will post it here on ZooChat. Beyond that we have no insider information.
 
Based on my Current Visit.

The Swan Habitat is ready, I was told by one of the Staff that it needs the Pump for the pool.

In the Lair, the Chinese Giant Salamander Habitat now has fake aquatic plants, wooden sticks and logs, and hole shelters placed for hiding opportunities.

The Care and Conservation Room has a Whiteboard Sign on Reptile and Amphibian Misconceptions and Myths including the differences between Poisonous and Venomous on the viewing glass.
