I'm also hoping for Baird's Tapirs as they would fit the theme better than Mountains. Also, I've heard Mountain Tapirs being phased out, so I don't really know what will happen to them.
I keep hearing about the phasing out of Mountain Tapirs, but still hope L.A. can resolve something with one of the South American governments. And the phasing out of many species in North American zoos has been discussed elsewhere in this forum, and literally angers me. I don't want to see only a handful of species replicated in every major zoo wherever I travel across the continent. I believe that zoos should be preserving as many species in captivity as possible, for their natural habitats may be destroyed even in our lifetime!
