Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park Lowry Park Zoo News 2013

Just remembered while pming BeardsleyZooFan, there's a Waterbuck calf. Does anyone know what subspecies the zoo has, by the way?

Great news jusko! I thought I heard Matjeka was pregnant, but wasn't entirely sure. Where'd you find this out?

The zoo has a new map and they have gone to the more cartoonish side similar to the San Diego Zoo:

Thanks for posting the link and I'm actually a big fan of this style of map. I wouldn't call it cartoonish (it is nothing like Chester Zoo's!) as the animals appear to be well-drawn and realistic. It is obviously the same company that does the work for the San Diego parks and I'll have to try and get my hands on a new Lowry Park Zoo map to add to my collection.

I agree, I kind of like this style map. I would prefer Bronx had this type of map as oppose to the one they have now which is similar except the animal pictures as filled in so they're more of a shadow.

I actually like the animal illustrations and I agree they're not even close to cartoonish as Chester's map. I'm just not a fan as I feel like this style is too cluttered and exhibits are not clearly defined. From the same company I would actually prefer Antwerp Zoo's map design over SD and Tampa's map design: Antwerp Zoo

My all time favorite maps are those by Reineck and Reineck Design which clearly show exhibits and paths. They are a bit dull, but I would rather have a clear map than a cluttered one.

On August 1st, the Demoiselle Crane chick that was raised by the Sandhill Cranes met its biological parents in the Sulawesi Aviary, and continues to remain there.

That Antwerp Zoo map is a new one, so thanks again for posting! I also really like the Reineck designs as they clearly show the extent of exhibits and the exact layout of a zoo.
