Following a very successful trip to Uganda and Kenya I'm happy to report another update:
Biggest addition by far was my first Anomalure. A family lifer! My first family lifer since I started keeping track because of this very thread. I was also able to add both the trident and bent-winged bat families thanks to some caves visited in Kenya! There were a couple close calls on seeing Cane Rats, hopefully next time!
The trip also yielded some new wild family lifers (seeing for the first time in the wild), including my first wild Rhinos, African Palm Civet, and hedgehogs (FINALLY! A wild order lifer as well)
Unfortunately I felt under the weather for the final night tour in Uganda and slept in. In doing so I painfully missed out on two more wild family lifers that night in dormouse and potto.
I've also updated the list with two additional bat families from Lynx's Handbook of the Mammals of the World (trident & wing-gland) that hadn't been included in the original lists here.
Still stuck at 26 orders, although I'm now up to 20 seen in the wild thanks to the hedgehogs!
27 families remain, and I intend to keep shrinking that number!!
Black = captive only; Blue = wild & captive; Red = wild only
Orders: 26/29 total, 6/29 captive only, 19/29 wild & captive, 1/29 wild only
