Hi,
we hope that you can help us in some way.
We visited a place in scotland just over 3 years ago and found that the people there were keeping marmosette monkeys in a small shed within a unit. They also had taken a baby marmosette from its father and were selling it over the internet. Our daughter Lisa at the time was a grade A student with high hopes of becomming a vet. We decided that we would bring the baby home with us and make him a member of the family.
He bonded with our daughter Lisa instantly and has favoured her since the first day.
He has not been caged up but has had free run of the family home apart from 9pm every night when he puts himself to bed.
He was in no way a troubled monkey untill 7 months ago when Lisa left the rails, had a change of personallity ,rebelled against the family and left home and Mico.
Because his best friend has left he has become a very lonely monkey, and
although he tollerates the rest of us he wont let us groom him ect.
It is such a shame as he is a lovely little boy. Since there is no way our
daughter will return home we have painstakingly realised that Mico needs to be re-housed. Hopefully with another monkey.
Our local pet shop where we purchase Micos live food has expressed a huge interest in Mico, but we have since found out that they keep quite a few Marmossets for breeding purposes. They have offered over £1500 for Mico, but to be honest we could not sell him as we consider him to be part of the family. And we don't want him to be stuck in a little cage so as somone can make money out of him.
We are looking for a new home for Mico and hope that a proffesional
organisation or a zoo would be interested in giving Mico a good
life. Please if you think you can help us in some way don't hesitate to get in
touch.
