Heartbreaking, what a stunning animal and such a short time between the new enclosure aswell!
In 'not quite finished' form....but pretty underwhelmingHas anyone managed to go see and/or take photos of the new snow leopard extension?
Does anyone know where the addax have gone/are goingTo reply to a few points the four otters are still there, there are still two Dik Dik in with the Addax, and the Addax in the old Sitatunga area male are due to leave to another zoo.
Does anyone know where the addax have gone/are going
Great news male Rothchilds Giraffe born to Ruby.
The breeding male is named as Mburu.Great news especially after all the deaths recently including the giraffe herd (Makeda) great that Mboro has proven his worth although sounds like this is a happy mistake.
Wonder if Christa has conceived as well(fingers crossed she hasn't)
Glad that 1 calf survived this year
The breeding male is named as Mburu.
It be interesting to know his origins.
Yes a Bongo was born last week making 0.4.1. hopefully another female is pregnant.I visited today. It is nice to go occasionally when I have some time off work. It is less busy so I went round the zoo the way most people do for a change. When visiting weekends I usually go the opposite way to avoid the crowds as much as possible.
Notes from today.
- I saw both the recently announced babies, the giraffe and the Grevy's zebra foal.
- There are signs up that access to the giraffe house may be limited, but as it wasn't busy there was nobody doing so today.
- Part of the giraffe's hard standing area has been screened off so the giraffes can get away from people if they want.
- Has a baby bongo been announced? There is one.
- Something was happening with the banteng today. There was a group of 5 or 6 keepers and an off road vehicle at their paddock.
- The African wild ass stallion was confined to his hard standing area. There is some heavy machinery in his paddock. It looks like they either removing trees or branches from trees at the back of the paddock. I have noticed that Marwell tend to do a batch of maintenance work immediately after the summer holiday season. I think it is more likely to be this than new developments.
- The bush dogs are off show as they are being monitored by a vet.
- The cotton-topped tamarins in Life Among the Trees were outside today. That was unusual. Whenever I see them they are almost always inside.
- The signs for the Asiatic short clawed otters are back and I did see the otters today.
Not any more will pass but I think you know the answer.Did the other giraffe look pregnant?
