Miniature Animal Figure Collection

I'm getting rid of a portion of my collection if anyone is interested. Giving them away. For instance I have these sea creatures...

I can mail them to you, or if you live anywhere along the I-91 corridor I could meet you somewhere. I go to New Hampshire fairly regularly and drive the length of I-91 through Mass.

I was wondering if anyone else collected dinosaur and other earlier animal figures as I am looking into making a collection of them like in Jurassic park type collection (small plastic models that is)?

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone else here collects minature animal figures? Like, the ones you can buy from Zoos gift shops? I collect Marine/Aquarium related Figures! I have lots of dolphin/whale/shark figures :) If anyone else is interested I can post some photos of them all! Been collecting for the past few years on and off :)

Thanks, it makes for a fun challenge and looks cooler than just sitting on a shelf. Aquatic species are a lot more difficult but I've got a couple I'm currently trying to figure out a way through. :D
For aquatic species, I suppose you can glue, tape, or use some other contraption to hold it up to the edge of the glass of a normal fish tank like an "underwater viewing area" you would see in a zoo or aquarium, or as if it was interpreted as a wild animal, to put color in the water with the appropriate water look/type of coloring of their natural habitat where they would generally be seen in the wild. For example, I would suggest that for a species which lives in the deep ocean and hard to find solid to use very dark water with a dark background with the animal only being visible by a flashlight, which in this case would represent the viewing for undersea specialists in a submarine. In the end, it is up to you, but this is just a suggestion for you.

I've done a few different things over time, but its difficult to stay consistent with something that routinely works.

Aiming down into the water -
Kitan Club Giant Salamander - technically a keychain but that's easy to remove and a very nice piece.

In a fish tank without inhabitants that could be affected by anything on it or in the plastic

And one I don't think I shared on thread - in a drainage ditch taken by carefully wrapping the top 2/3 of my phone in plastic wrap and sticking it underwater while I simultaneously held the dolphin in very cold water!

I would just like to comment that those are some amazing photos and some great ideas you had here! I particularly love the great aesthetics you had surrounding the dolphin!

what brand is the dolphin? dyk?

I'm at it again - handful of Japanese gashapon arrived earlier this week! :p
One thing I will say re gashapon, the higher end ones easily rival the big name brands in terms of quality. I expect this is due to them being collectibles rather than toys. Quite pleased with all of this current lot, I just wish many of the Asian gashapon weren't so tricky to come by!

Where it stops nobody knows... :p
With a box received a few days ago my collection jumped well over the 400 mark, and brought the brand total to 18! Whenever it happens to hit the 500 mark it'll really be time to figure out the storage situation.

Wow your collection is really getting insane, congrats on 400 and here's to 400 more! I particularly love the Yellow-eyed Penguin and Water Buffalo photos!

here's to 400 more!

Technically if I count the mini figures I think I already hit that mark - I don't count them in my total though as they tend to be much lower quality. I haven't bought any of the tubes in a number of years, although I did learn a little while ago that I apparently aquired a number of odd/rare figures shortly before I stopped collecting the minis.
I will note though that a good number of figures in the "main" collection are mini figure sized, but I opted to count them differently based on quality. It's a slightly vague line but there is generally a noticeable difference between small figures of standard lines and tube figures.
