Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre Monkey World news

Where exactly is the new enclosure out of interest? I presume by far end you mean by the Capuchin House/large play ground?
Opposite the stumpies enclosure, the house is nearest the gibbon enclosure that Peanut and Pung-yo are in (assuming they haven't swapped with other gibbons). So the other end of the capuchin complex from the big playground.

Former Monkey World orangutans Jin (son of Gordon and Hsiao-Quai) and Awan (daughter of Tuan and Hsiao-Lan) (who now live at Wingham Wildlife Park) are expecting their first child. The baby is due in July.
This is wonderful news and the number of infants in the Orangutan Nursery have been gratuated and went off to other zoos to have babies of their own. Hsiao-Ning now has 2 children to care for at Rostock Zoo in Germany, Kai and Joly have already welcomed their infant called Membelai at Rio Safari Elche in Spain, Silvestre went off to head of his own group at Basel Zoo in Switzerland and now joins his own group in the outdoor enclosure. Very good news for Jin and Awan who soon to have an infant of their own at Wingham Wildlife Park.

Monkey world is expecting 11 new lemurs into Malagasy! This is so exiting, they were kept by an expert keeper and originated from a breeding pair and their 10 children (breeding fem. passed away)

The lemurs were kept in 2 groups and so far it’s looking like 4 males and possibly up to 7 females which is so so exiting as fennel (current dominant female) is the only female lemur (Kaya was moved on after not being able to settle) so maybe a different hierarchy in the future? Who knows.

The mw lemurs are old quite old (including fennel) and so far the 11 new lemurs look to all be under the age of 20 or so adding new life and generations into Malagasy can’t wait to see them all settled :)

What species of lemur are they

What species of lemur are they
They are ring tails, like the existing lemurs at MW.

These are the lemurs that another keeper was applying for a dangerous wild animal licence to take, but was denied. There are various news articles online about the legal challenge the keeper made to their local council about this.

According to the update MW put on Facebook today, they currently have taken in the 4 males, only one of which had a name. The females will arrive later. They had been kept in two separate social groups, so MW are introducing the new lemurs to each other in addition to the existing lemurs.

There are 3 younger males - Al and twins Kurt and Friedrich.

From the latest series of monkey life filmed on screen before Christmas they just said that paperwork takes time and because they are being well cared for in Lebanon currently , whilst their is still civil unrest and war in Lebanon there wouldn’t be a rush to move them until things settle down as it’s not a simple transfer of just one animal it’s 6!

They did a Facebook Live this morning and said that they haven't made any progress with the baboons, it seems that transport is the big problem.

There's a new woolly monkey arrival (a birth, I assume), I think they said in Chippy's group but not completely sure.

Yesterday, former Monkey World orangutans Jin and Awan (who now live at Wingham Wildlife Park in Kent) had their first child together. The child's gender is currently unknown.
This is wonderful news and it show the orangutan nursery does work with the number of it's residents graduated and start their very own families at other zoos around Europe. Yes Hsiao-Ning now has 2 children to care for at Rostock Zoo in Germany followed by Kai and Joly who have already welcomed their own infant called Membelai at Rio Safari Elche in Spain then Silvestre now joins his own group at Basel Zoo in Switzerland and now Jin and Awan have welcomed their very own infant at Wingham Wildlife Park in Kent and started a happy family

I think the breeding is great but for me, the fact that they’re actually caring for them is amazing. Amy was human reared and had no idea what to do with a baby, it’s quite unusual for fully human reared orangs to raise their own babies, but getting them in with other orangutans as early as possible is clearly doing the job.
