30/1/10:
- Well, guess what? Zambar was there today, he won't be going till Monday morning. We watched him come inside to be fed, and at one point he tried to bring his meat joint into the nextdoor chamber, but couldn't fit it through the door: But kept trying till success! We had a long chat to Phil over there just after he fed the tigers, where he explained to us the move, also confirming that they intend to get a new breeding pair when Zambar goes. He also noted that work on the new cheetah enclosure should start work in June, with the Przewalski's who inhabit the site moving to the ankole paddock (which orginally housed wild horses in the first place). Elsewhere on the tiger front Yenna 'pulled a Zambar' on us, leaping to visitors at the window.
- Saw both Indeever and Irina for the first time today, who are now out in the open. Both were sitting behind the rockfaces, Irina curled asleep and Indeever watching visitors, obviously quite timidly with his ears pulled along his head. But they're incredibly beautiful cats.
- Also saw a serval, think it was Gandalf, stalking a pigeon today. Unfortunately it was too far away for him to catch it in the air when it flew off!
- While the two larger indoor enclosures in Aridlands are still empty, the former bull snake exhibit is fully furnished like a larger version of the club-tail iguana with the lights on, meaning something should be going in there very soon.
