Two new Miniature Zebu are located in African Oasis. From the Naples Zoo's website;
"During a visit to Naples Zoo, you can see the tallest animals in the world that stroll the plains of Africa or the giant reptiles that bask in our Florida sun. The newest arrivals, however, are a little on the small side. And they’re meant to be. They are called miniature zebus. These tiny cattle are as cute as they are small.

The Zoo’s two new miniature zebu were born this past spring. Miniature zebus reach a maximum height of 42” just behind the hump on their back although many are far shorter. The father of the Zoo’s new boy zebu tops out at just 30”.

In popular culture, zebus have been referenced in two animated shows. In The Simpsons, Lisa Simpson tries to teach young Maggie Simpson what a zebu is using flashcards. And in the animated VeggieTales series, zebus made an appearance under a similar name in 'The Song of the Cebú.'"

Two Malayan Tiger brothers from the Virginia Zoo, Kadar and Tahan, will be sent to Naples to make room for two new Malayans at Norfolk. I think that the current male tiger at Naples will be moved out to make room for these two, as he seems not to have had any success with the female that came a couple of years ago from San Diego.

Kadar and Tahan are out daily and enjoying the pool immensely.
The zoo replied to a Facebook message someone posted about the Coyotes, and part of their response included this: "We have plans for a new exhibit for them in a new location. They tore out all the vegetation in their area and even mixed and buried the pine substrate."
So a new Coyote exhibit seems to be in the works, perhaps after Kiwa Ranch, and maybe then the Cougars that rotate with the Coyotes can be on exhibit all day.

A male Red Fox named Chaz recently finished his quarantine period, and is becoming an animal ambassador for the education department.

Lots of negative feed back about this Zoo. I wonder if I should skip it and go straight to Miami Zoo. (But I also want to see the Fossa!)

what do you think of all the big management changes at the Naples zoo.

director, curator, maintenance supervisor, registrar, new hr director and 70% of animal staff 95% of groundkeeping staff all gone in less than a year?

Even with a massive amount of employee turnover, Naples Zoo continues to debut a new exhibit area every year. New Wonders of the World is a South American themed zone with 5 species:

This has already been mentioned before in this thread...
While I'm posting, I'd like to add that I'm not a huge fan of all the exhibits in this area; the anteater yard almost looks like someone's back yard with the well-trimmed grass, and the tamarin exhibit looks like it was given the amount of effort that would have been put into a temporary display.
