I think we now know what will happen to this area…
The new area, named Beaver Swamp, will be a 1200 meter square exhibit which plans to recreate a beaver dam. In addition to beavers the striped skunks and North American porcupines will also be exhibited in this new area. Judging from the plans, they won’t be mixed, (which is a wasted opportunity if you ask me).
the exhibit is set to open in July 17.

This does beg the question what will happen to the old enclosures in wolf hills, beaver creek, and the porcupine display?
An American beaver named Pibo escaped from its enclosure in Beaver Swamp on October 1st and unfortunately was found dead within park grounds on the third of October.

I do not want to sound snarky about this situation but this incident proves the flaw of the new beaver enclosure, which prioritized aesthetic over safety and used mesh with wood railings which probably can’t withstand the beavers. Which is why hot wire was used making parts of the enclosure borderline inaccessible for the animals. The staff should work on this enclosure before next summer.
Also, I hope that the kingdom and the press doesn’t try to retcon this incident, like the cotton-top tamarin incident, and remove/private anything mentioning this incident.
