What Twycross use the money over on another project you must be joking will be sat in the BANK waiting for the Rainy day when they need to spend it because the visitors have stopped going because of the state of the zoo.
 
You said there would be a water feature - what about baboon brook. Or if they wanted to make it a trail like at the singapore zoo or the bronx, they could use something which sets the scene better like 'Killimanjaro's Kingdom' or 'The Great Rift Valley'.

I must say some areas, like the Tapirs, the Childrens area and of course the original old Ape ages are very shabby-looking. The orangutan house is badly in need of a total makeover(or a complete new house) too.

I agree, before they start rebuilding mediochre enclosures, they should focus on some of the worst aspects of the zoo. The aviaries in primley are long overdue and the ape house does need to be refurbished, if nothing else to cater for orang-utans!

I think they are building some new cages up past the breeding area.I will try and find out more.kkkp:)

I understand that dissatisfaction has led to some staff changes. As one of the donors, and on behalf of the orangs, I'm angry about it. But the spending priorities at Twycross now indicate that visitors are more important than residents.

They need lots of visitors as that feeds the animals I argued that is not the case maybe the fat cats in the offices need a cut in salary.:D

They need to look back to 1989-91 to see how they dealt with it then. A lot of the existing staff wouldn't have experienced that though...

I think it is really irrisponsible to post things on here that are either guess work or rumour.
 
As my previous post got removed I would like to appologise to anybody that took offence but I do not appologise for what I believe to be true and that the OP was utter gumff.

Please if anyone wishes to know information on any zoo just phone the zoo up and ask questions. dont rely on cyber warriors on internet forums to give you facts as they are often chineze whispers that will get peoples knickers in a twist over nothing.
 
Back to the topic. I heard that they were building the new enclosure for the baboons (didn't ask which kind) by the barbary sheep. Where their current enclosure is, is going to be an indian style temple exhibit for Lesser Jakagi.
