In one of the 'Monkey Row' cages near the entrance, where the Dianas etc are.![]()
I think there are a pair and this years baby on show and the pair from RSCC are now back at Newquay off show
They've definitely gone up in the world (maybe not literally!) now that they're in Monkey Heights then. There are Dianas, squirrel monkeys and capuchins in Monkey Row. Which ones replaced the mangabeys?
They've definitely gone up in the world (maybe not literally!) now that they're in Monkey Heights then.Very much so... those Newquay cages are really rather small for the larger Monkey species. I saw the previous old Sooty Mangabey pair in one and it did look small, and that was only two, not four Monkeys. I think I'd prefer to see the two Diana females placed elsewhere- particularly if they aren't going to get another male.![]()
Seems very similiar to Durrell's "Jewels of the Forest!" Both names feature gems/jewels, both exhibits feature passerines/songbirds from Asia/South-East Asia.... Well atleast according to Durrell's guide!
Either way, the exhibit sounds cool, are the Red Panda Developments still going ahead?
I thought the red panda development were pretty much done when I visited them in August. They've basically added glass walls. When I went they had yet to add the cusimanse to the side enclosure or open the amphibian tunnel.
does anyone know where they are planning to have the new aviary?
I believe that is entirely accurate - not sure if they're on show yet though.
Very interesting. Do you know what they plan to do with them?
A male Philippine spotted deer has been born at the zoo, this is the 3rd birth at the zoo.
I popped into the zoo today, and there is nothing major to report..
The Philippine spotted deer fawn is doing well. Last years fawn is still there..
The African planes exhibit is quite water logged, and a lot of the animals were on the hard standing (zebra and the 1.0 Ostrich) I don't know whether that is because of the conditions in the paddock or the species are not mixing well?? There is only one Lechwe left I don't know if there evidential plan is to faze this species out?? and there is only 0.1? water buck..
There have been some alterations in the tropical house on the aviary upstairs on the right above the water fountain they have now netted off one end of it.. Properly 3' or 4' wide, I don't know if this is going to be a temporarily holding for the new birds for the gems of the Jungle exhibit (While this work is being done the Mouse deer and the toucans have been moved off show)..
I thinks that's every thing..
