Not sure if it has been mentioned but I was at a Red Panda talk yesterday, and the presenter said that 2 Red Panda cub's where born 8 weeks ago.

Only a portion of the paddock will be the ground hornbills, so yes, perhaps. I think that the remaining paddock will probably be used for a new species of ungulate though- If I remember correctly the plans for the hornbill aviary also had a new stable near the meerkats.

If the zoo is still interested in obtaining Addax, then they could be a long-shot for using this area?

On the other hand, it could go back to being used by rhino now that there are 2 more rhinos on the way.

CZJimmy I don't think addax will be arriving in the near future, I did hear that the lechew enclosure is to be used for rhinos, but things may change.

MikeyBoyWonder no one has mentioned the panda cubs, thanks for doing so.

It would be nice for another species to use the paddock, possible along with the Black Rhino's.

i was there today i found out that the letchie where going to the peire david paddock tomorrow and it was staying a rhino paddock we will see

I did wonder about rhinos using that, but what about the stuff about a lechwe house on the site?
Plus, there was that mystery ungulate that Zoogiraffe was teasing us with.

Now there is a good point, are you in a position now zoogiraffe to reveal the name of this ungulate?

They also have a two spare paddock's where the deer and horses used to be (including the one ith wallabies in).

So pontential we could she one or too new ungulate's to the zoo.

Id prefer another hoofstock species over more rhinos. Is the paddock really big enough for Rhinos plus a ground hornbill aviary.

Oh yeah, I forgot the horses were moving. Do we know where yet?

Well technically there will be 3 empty paddocks once the Lechwe move

- the current Lechwe one
- one of the Przewalski Horse paddocks
- the one opposite the Horse paddock (next to the zebra/oryx ones)

If the Przewalski Horses move then there is a further paddock available.

Am just as confused here, was it the deer or horses that were leaving the collection?

Well Bongorob said that the Deer were going to a safari park (I forget which one) and the Horses were swapping enclosures (to make an african area with the West Zoo paddocks)

Thanks, I couldn't remeber which way it was around

Yes sorry, when I said the horses were moving, I meant within the zoo, not from the zoo. Although, if there was nowhere for them to go, do you think Chester would phase them out completely?

Not yet but things do seem to be coming to a head so may be soon, only problem is i know where they are going and its not on that side of the zoo.
