Remember it is something other zoos would like, and there are none anywhere else in Europe. I've had a guess, but I'm not going to mention the animal concerned in case it is the right species.

yes, Shaldon also used to house their Mouse deer in a natural daylight exhibit along with callitrichids. Why don't zoos give them outdoor access though?

My guess is on Yellow Backed Duikers because if the zoo is moving the warty pigs to another enclosure the duikers could move there and they would fit in perfectly there.

You know at the lion talk and feed, has it been mentioned if the lions have been mating, and if there is a possible pregnancy? I'm just curious as when the pair were reintroduced after Tejas was born, it was announced that the lions were mating again?

Also, any more development on the jaguars, any matings been occuring with their pair, or are the zoo giving up on them after the 2 failed rearings of cubs?

Last I heard was that the Stud book keeper had told them to hold of breeding them, but this was a year ago now after the first failed attempt.

Could they not get them from America?

I think zoogiraffe's point was that he's already said there are no others of his mystery ungulate in Europe, so Yellow-backed Duiker is out. :)

Natal Red and Blue (and possibly mixed in the Blue, Maxwell's - I'm not convinved anyone can be sure exactly which species some of the European animals are) are also around in Europe. No others as far as I'm aware.

It would be great to see gerenuk in the UK, there are animals i'm sure available from the USA or the middle east.

The 2 possible enclosures really are the current bongo enclosure and the current warty pig enclosure. So really a small african species or a chinese species are what id say we are most likely to get.

Might be but you could hide quite a large animal in that paddock if its the wrong colour.

Is it something green to hide in the grass? :D

BTW Edinburgh keep their chevrotains in a house with nice outdoor runs. I will post some photos when I have time to work them up.

The windows have been board up in the Lion house saying Asha is due to give birth soon.

I was talking about the Jaguar's, but that is good news.

Do you have any information whether they will try and breed again from the Jaguar's?
