Drusillas Park News from Drusillas

All I'll say is that the species is much easier to guess when one realises Drusillas was wrong to claim they would be the third UK zoo to currently hold the species - they are one of only two!

Oh, and someone already said what the species was back when they first arrived at the collection some time ago ;)

I think I might have a good idea of what they are now. ;):p

Suspect given the size of Drusillas, it’s unlikely to be something the size of bears, and given the carnivore clues, I suspect the animal in question is Yellow Throated Marten. Seems odd they made that post and have gone quite some time without revealing the species.

iirc they mentioned it would be revealed in the Spring?

Sadly male Burmese rock python (Python bivittatus) Basil passed away this week. He was donated to the zoo on the 24th of March 1990 as he had become too big for the enclosure in the private home he was living in. During the 33 years that he had lived at Drusillas he grew from 3 metres to 6 metres. I am not sure whether the was the last Burmese rock python at the zoo.
