The first ever Black Rhino "Glyndwr" who was born at Folly Farm in 2020 has recently moved on to Flamingo Land Resort as part of a managed breeding programme. He appears to have settled in really well at his new home. Over the coming months, he will meet the other Rhinos at Flamingo Land.

Sad news announced this morning

With great sadness we announce the death of Rudi, one of our Rothschild hybrid giraffe.

Rudi, joined us from Longleat Safari Park, with his half brother Dr Shrimp, in 2021 and were a popular duo alongside long-term resident Rian.
Our thoughts at this sad time are with the dedicated Folly Farm keepers who cared for him on a daily basis and for whom his loss is most greatly felt.

Our keeping team have been monitoring Rudi’s growth for a while alongside our veterinary partners but following his deteriorating health over recent weeks he was found collapsed. In discussion with our zoo team, management and our expert veterinary partners we took the difficult decision to put Rudi to sleep to stop further suffering. A post mortem revealed he had congenital heart disease, a long-term pre-existing health condition likely present from birth.

On June 12th, the zoo announced that they acquired (0.2) pink-backed pelicans named Olga and Svetlana from Zoo Duisburg in Germany on April 18th which are now on exhibit in Pelican Lake.

I've just had a look through some ZTL inventories and noticed Asian black bears had been put down as a recent former holding for Folly Farm. Though I couldn't seem to find any proof/photos of them ever being kept here? o_O

i can confirm that folly has never had bears. but i do think it time for folly to get another big attraction animal like big cats or even bears. it just feel like there has been no major developments since the Asian adventure.

This might help - ZootierlisteHomepage

I unable to see any bears on the list, but it does give you current and pervious holding.

I already have an account on there and have corrected some false holdings.

Maybe someone can put down a list of what species have left and I can switch them around. :)
