Linton Zoological Gardens News from Linton Zoo

(e.g. Twycross' "Green Mile", now thankfully gone).

Unfortunately still there,(you probably know this anyway) disguised as a spacious, but scruffy exhibit for the Amur Leopards. I always think its amazing it took them so long to do something about this awful Chimpanzee exhibit, but at least its finally happening now.

I went yesterday, but by 3:30 I gave up on them waking; keeper said they probably exhausted themselves with the excitement of the move and exploring. If they are up though, there is nothing to obstruct the view.

If it's any consolation, I spent much of this afternoon waiting by the new quoll exhibit in the vain hope that the quolls might show themselves; I had no luck either.

do they have a feeding time for the quolls? That would be the best way for the zoo to have them visible, at least for a set period(s) each day.

"Pipaluk" and I learned today that the quolls are normally fed about 11:00am so that would obviously be the best time try to see them.

I think I heard the keeper during the Tapir talk say that the youngster would be moving on soon .... and that they think mum is pregnant, hoping for a new calf around November.

What time was that? I still haven't seen them outside of their little sheds...

One was out when I arrived soon after opening, but all 3 had emerged by the time food arrived a little after 11:30. They were still quite active when I left around 1pm :)

Thinking of visiting soon to get a tick for the Europe challenge, any other rarities other than wallaroo and quoll?

Hartmann Mountain Zebra (maybe two other UK collections hold them?), Channel-billed Toucan (if it's still there)
Don't know what happened to the toucan, but it wasn't anywhere to be seen on my last few visits over the last month or so!

The Toucan has gone and been replaced by superb parrots and golden mantled rosella.
