Linton Zoological Gardens News from Linton Zoo

Took a trip to Linton Zoo recently.Would have made a 1-2 with Shepreth but train delays out paid to that. Small zoo set mostly within a wooded area.
The Toucan is not on show at the zoo. Got see virtually all of the animals despite the rain,though the lemurs were shy.The Southern Ground Hornbill poking sticks through the cage. One of the Snow Leopards seemed to be eying up passing toddlers for potential meals,following their every move. The Qoull were active,having just been fed by a keeper enthusiastic about potential breeding programs,and the only UK zoo other than Bristol,currently holding them.Three Tapir snuggled in their hacienda shelters. .!

The zoo was building a few more small tanks for reptiles/inverts,inside the little house next to the other little main reptile house.Because it was quite dark in there,perhaps a few visitors probably mistook it for a toilet or keepers shed,and would miss out on the 9B Armadillo's. Binturong was just out of view for me when I visited.
Really?
1.They had another collared lemur baby in March, not sure of the sex.
2.They're currently building a new indoor enclosure near the Parma wallabies for the parrots I believe.
3.The female tapir is pregnant.
4. 2 kookaburras hatched this year.
Other than that I can't think or know of anything else.

Finally got round to buying the annual pass, so will popping into the other nearby zoos over the summer.
Today I noticed the Binturong have moved to the enclosure previously housing the Quoll when they first arrived. This is good, as one of them seems to like sunbathing in front of one of the viewing windows. 'Juian', the white collared Lemur is now resident in their old pad. I thought I'd read of this before, but couldn't see it posted.

The binturong moved at least 2 months ago.
I think there are 2 male white Collared lemur in the old enclosure.

I just popped into Linton on my lunch break as hadn't been for a couple of weeks. During the southern ground hornbill keeper talk, the mentioned they have had two chicks this year, being hand reared. Other news of note, there is a small building being erected in the wild field near the lion enclosure.
The building is part of a 3rd lion enclosure, should it be necessary to separate the males
It is another male I believeGreat news, hopefully it's a girl this time. Will make sure I visit on 2nd Jan when I'm back to work
