Europes oldest Red river hog has died at of more then 18 years.
Heidi was born on July 5 2002 at Salzburg ( Austria ) and came 2005 to Nürnberg.
On Jan. 4 2021 it was decided to put her asleep because of age-problems.
In Frankfurt, one animal lived for 22 years.
Fortunately, the poor sow in Nuremberg is now dead, after being kept alone for years, because in Nuremberg they apparently do not know that pigs are very social animals that never live alone in freedom, but in large groups. Apparently, Nuremberg was too incapable of giving the animal at least one domestic pig for company, because there was no specific reason to keep the Red-River-Hog alone.
