How many exhibits are within the new complex?Cincinnati does not plan to move out Kabir and Sanjay anytime soon. Ideally the zoo wants to keep them in a bachelor herd but until then the two boys get along very well with Anak and SheRa.

According to a friend in Cincy there are two large outdoor spaces along with the side yard which the herd currently has access to. The largest yard is in front of the house and includes the huge 205,000 gallon pool. The side yard will have no water feature but there is something on the smaller scale in the other large yard. How many exhibits are within the new complex?
Thank you for the corrections! Which elephants are currently located at Tarzan Zerbini property as according to the USDA there were two elephants at Zerbini as of September, 2023? It's good to hear that the Carden gals will soon be at a better facility. Once the Carden elephants move will their no longer be any circus elephants left the US besides Okha?Okha is still alive just not traveling.
Two tails has 4 elephants total Marie, Shelly, Tika and Patti
Carden elephants should be moving to Buckleys place sooner rather than later
Very sad news to hear.Very sad news Donna has died at St Louis at age 52.

Saint Louis are in an interesting predicament now, with seven elephants; four older post reproductive cows, three younger cows and one bull. If breeding was to continue, I'd assume this would have to revolve around exporting their current bull, a local favourite (Raja) to another facility. This is devastating news. She was one of my favorites. I wonder if the zoo will be looking for new elephants for the herd, or if they will try breeding again.
Considering his representation, I wouldn't be surprised if he's not and instead remains as a non breeding bull at a facility somewhere (like Denver). I think it's important to also remember that although he may not be valuable now, things could change quite quickly in the future, making things like this difficult to predict. In saying that, I think as of now we can safely say, probably not.Speaking of Frankie, would he even be considered for breeding as an adult anyway? Both his paternal and maternal lines are very well represented. Im not an expert on the past of elephant studs though so Im not totally qualified to speak on that.
This will be a historic birth - the first double fourth-generation elephant in North America!Oregon Zoo pregnancy announcement:
Elephant and critically endangered black rhinoceros expecting babies at Oregon Zoo
At Elephant Lands, 29-year-old Rose-Tu is pregnant for the third time.
She and 25-year-old Samson have been spending time together and the zoo said they believe conception occurred in late May.
They expect Rose will give birth in early 2025.
Nope. It’ll be a partial third generation birth, to be certain, but both Rose Tu and Samson are “merely” partial second generation animals. Rose Tu’s sire was wild born Hugo and first generation mother Me Tu, while Samsons sire was first generation Chanda and mother was wild born Kitty. This will be a historic birth - the first double fourth-generation elephant in North America!
Wonderful news! I was just thinking about whether we had any confirmed Asian Elephant pregnancies in NA, lets hope this announcement is the beginning of many from other zoos going into the next two years!Oregon Zoo pregnancy announcement:
