Novosibirsk Zoo Novosibirsk Zoo

Am I the only one who thinks it’s absurd to keep polar bears and Pallas’s cats in Thailand? Do Thailand and Russia have any concerns about the welfare of these animals?

On the surface, it appears less than ideal, but it depends on the standard of their exhibit. Singapore Zoo previously held Polar bears; and Sea World Gold Coast in Australia currently hold the species.

Here’s a brief overview of their climate control efforts:

Several climate control facilities are available to the bears: All pools have water chilled to 15-17°C. A retractable shade cover allows 90% solar filtration. The fabric roof shade structure incoporates sprinkling systems to simulate rain.

Safari World in Thailand used to have polar bears, I don't know what happened to them.

Polar bear 'Banira' (Vanilla) at Nihondaira zoo in Shizuoka, Japan was born there.

This year, nine Pallas’s cat kittens were born at Novosibirsk Zoo across two litters — one with 3 kittens and the other with 6.

The litter of 3 is especially fascinating: the father is a 13-year-old wild-born male Zelenogorsk, and the mother is 9-year-old Mia. All three kittens were noticeably different in size and color — one large and greyish, one medium and reddish, and one much smaller than expected and dark greyish.

Sadly, the tiniest kitten didn’t make it.
