The Premier Colin Barnett says he would like to see the larger animals at the Perth Zoo moved to a different site.
Mr Barnett says the zoo is considering whether to set up a second location that could house traditionally 'open range' animals such as zebras and giraffes.
'We haven't been looking at any sites but I think the principle there is large animals are better not in confined spaces but in open range settings," he said.
"That's happened in Victoria where the larger animals I think are out at Werribee.
"That's something I think I would like to see but it is something for the future.
"But, there certainly won't be a decision made in the near future."
sort of an update...well, more of an "I'd like to see this but we haven't looked at any sites and it won't be any time soon".....
