I don't think 'conservation' is their primary focus here. The accent is heavily on 'exhibition' value more- the bigger, better, more outstanding, colourful, unusual etc seems to outweigh other concerns. And there are some very strange exhibits here, some to the detriment of the inmates.
 
If they truly wanted to do something conservation-oriented, they should have gotten Amur or Sri Lankan leopards - preferably in a new exhibit or a repurposed version of one of their current exhibits. The leopard temple exhibit could perhaps be repurposed for fishing cat, jungle cat or clouded leopard.

@Pertinax, true their interests are in the main public exhibition and ..., alas this over both animal accomodation, welfare and species conservation. I am afraid at times the owners live in the 19th Century as far as postal stamp collecting is concerned ... and they fact they have so much funds and money they can more or less do (what the Greens Zoo does in India .. // I need to properly give my feedback there sometime soon as I have been investigating the organisation for a good number of faults, inaccuracies, political conivance and even ...- corruption and lack of observing both international laws on animal trade, welfare and other pressing matters ... et cetera et cetera).

You put the nail on the head for the individual species that would actually add value to the collection and send out a much needed conservation message over and above just creating interest on a mutational (de-)effect/morphological-functional biological aspect of black in leopards ...!
 
According to an article in the Dutch zooflits news website:
-the apatosaurus is now visible in the gallery of the world's
- the dinosaur exhibition will be permanent
- they will try to mix the smooth coated otters with Japanese macaques, asco will move into their old enclosure (I hope they get a different species in there eventually though)
-the pumas will not be visible when the park opens. New climbing structures are being installed in their exhibit
- there were 2,6 million visitors in 2024, an increase of 400 000 visitors
- the gibbon exhibit is also under construction, to accommodate "a new species" ( maybe snub nosed monkeys when their chinese village is still under construction?)
 
PD has reopened today, some updates that weren't mentioned here yet:
- the walkway to the "viewing hill" of the Brown bears has been paved with asphalt to prevent is from being very muddy
-new fences have been placed in the last frontier to protect foliage
- beaver islands have been completely renewed, new stones to keep the beavers from destroying their island have been installed
- at the native houses also more fencing has been installed to give animals more privacy
- at the big playground new sand has been dumped
- new fencing at the giraffes to prevent ppl giving food to the giraffes ( there is now double fencing)
- a new restaurant will replace the now closed Thai Gourmet restaurant
- the walkway uphill in the kingdom of ganesh that leads past the inbred tigers and the inbred panthers ( call it Inbred Alley, if you will :p) new poles have been installed at the little waterfalls on both sides of the walkway because it could get very slippery when some kids would decide to play on it.
- new terraria with reptiles and scorpions have been installed in the crypt ( does anybody know which species?)

Whereabouts is the gibbon exhibit?, I don't remember it...or is this new and not a revamp.
 
The servals are going to live at the old jabiru aviary. I saw a sign of Pairi Daiza where this was noted on socials.

On the new map a serval could also already be spotted at this location. Is it not a little bit small for servals though?

In other news: they started to heat the sanctuary, and the first plants and foliage are now being placed (from Laafsekikkers)

I thought they had a pair? Or did the other one die too? I remember seeing them in December, possibly the last time I'll ever see their dwindling population again :(

I was thinking about the tree kangaroo, but it might be a bit too active for the mousedeer, a prevost’s squirrel is another option perhaps.

There has just been the communication on the PD Facebook page that Tierpark Berlin and PD swapped their Bear Cuscus males.
Palu has moved to Berlin and Gulliver has been transferred to PD instead.

So they still have bear cuscusses? Seems like PD hasn't lost my favorite species in the park after all :D This is actually a good move too, the Bear cuscusses at PD were really close but did not breed for some reason. Hopefully we can now expect baby cuscusses in a few years

They will still only have a single male for the time being, as far as I understand. And it's not like there are many females available.
 
It seems they enjoy their new exhibit. A lot of space for these active squeaking swimmers. Let’s see what animal will inhabit their old enclosure.
