As per Zootierliste, there is currently 6 zoos in the UK with Pallas' cats. These are:
  1. The Big Cat Sanctuary
  2. Banham Zoo
  3. Howletts Wild Animal Park
  4. Cotswold Wildlife Park
  5. Port Lympne Wild Animal Park
  6. Cat Survival Trust
I believe the Big Cat Sanctuary is not open to visitors most of the year, not sure about the Cat Survival Trust (though I think this place is currently being investigated for welfare issues??).

I must say I didn't realise until now there was this small amount of holders and that they were all concentrated in the south, it is a shame somewhere up north doesn't hold them currently.

Agreed, I’m rather quite shocked actually as I assumed there were more holders! One would think somewhere like Highland Wildlife Park would have them.

Port Lympne has the best exhibit imo. Certainly the most interestingly designed.

HWP would certainly be a natural fit. It's a shame that Chester's all died within a year of them getting the species.

I think Edinburgh is supposed to get some as reported on its news thread.

Edinburgh kept the species for many years, but got rid of their last animals in 2010; around the same timespan, Highland Wildlife Park went into the species but *also* went out of them several years later.

As a matter of fact, my very first Pallas Cat was one of the Edinburgh animals.

What caused the pallas cats at chester to die
Pallas Cats have had a poor record in captivity. I think that Toxoplasmosis is the problem, carried by almost all domestic cats and often passed to human owners too, presumably by contact with saliva and faeces. Dont know about Chester though, sorry.

Just in case you were wondering, here are the UK zoos that previously had pallas cats
Chester zoo
Hertfordshire zoo
Colchester Zoo
Edinburgh Zoo
Highland Wildlife Park
Sandwich Wildlife park- Rest in peace

I think Banham Zoo has quite a few - I remember seeing at least three on display in more than one exhibit, next to their Snow Leopard habitat

And true about Big Cat Sanctuary, they're only open a select two/three weeks a year to the public in their Open Days

And, of course, not to forget London Zoo which held the species before any of the above zoos existed.
